A tented wedding ‘in the clouds’

A vinyl-less tent frame defines the space for a bright and airy wedding design.

With a request for over-the-top luxury for an October wedding in Texas, Julian Leaver of Julian Leaver Events, Dallas, Texas, draped chiffon over a vinyl-less tent, creating a dramatic yet delicate space with a monochromatic design. “It felt like you were in the clouds,” Leaver says. “It didn’t feel heavy at all; it was just light and ethereal. It really lent itself to light, glam, over the top.” Persiano Event Rentals, Irvine, Calif., installed the 40-by-90-foot frame tent over a backyard tennis court, and floral and rentals were provided by Bella Flora and Bella Acento, Dallas.

Reflective surfaces

“The couple loved the idea of mirrors and reflection, so that was the cue we took on the tables,” Leaver says. “There were tons of mirrored objects. Mirrored tabletops, just keeping it to all-white.” The palette extended to the florals, with barely a hint of greenery. “The floral itself was designed that it would be kind of pavé and tight and lush. You really didn’t see leaves or anything sticking out. They wanted to stay true to the white and silver and mirrored aesthetic.” A chandelier adorned with the same florals hung over the head table, and the cake was designed to complement the space as well.

Clean and crisp

A white Berber carpet completed the look and added to the challenge of an all-white design: keeping the space pristine throughout the setup. “Every little thing on a white carpet is going to destroy the look,” Leaver says. “It needs to remain ultraclean and crisp and tight. That’s the hardest, especially because it was in a backyard, having the catering staff not step through mud and grass and track things in and out.” The couple was thrilled with the lush, elegant and cohesive design. “They just had this amazing, immaculate space to treat all their guests to something that they maybe hadn’t seen before.”
