La Maison Fête creates a tented birthday party where guests could hang out and have fun.
For her husband’s 50th birthday party, a wife turned to La Maison Fête, a full-scale event planning company based in Bedford, N.Y., for a celebration that was fun, light and relaxed. “They’ve spent a lot of time out west, so we brought in different woods with the wood bar and the shelving, and we added dart boards, beer pong tables and definitely made space because they were a big dancing crowd,” says Deanna Marano, La Maison Fête cofounder. The client had originally selected a white tent, but planners switched to a clear tent, installed by The Greenwich Tent Co., Bridgeport,
Conn., to show off the surrounding foliage and keep the atmosphere light.
Pops of color
Marano’s favorite aspect to the design was the pops of color in the furniture and decor—including royal blue, burnt orange and golden yellow. A wide plank wood floor, a geometric linen that played off the color palette and other eclectic elements brought the design together, all with the goal of reflecting the personality of the honored guest. “At the last minute we put up two wood planks that had dart boards on them,” Marano says. “Our client had all these really fun hats designed that had all these fun sayings on them. We ended up making an installation around the dart boards with the hats.”
Focal point
At La Maison Fête, the designers love big bars. A wooden bar with modern lines from Patina Rentals was the perfect statement piece for the party. “This was a 120-person event, so instead of putting two or three bars in different areas, we wanted to make one bar the focal point, and I think we did that by centering it in the tent, adding the shelving units behind it, and it had this cool dimension to it,” Marano says. High tops and crank tables with stools helped to keep dining casual, and light fixtures were perfectly positioned over key areas, such as a lounge at the tent entrance featuring a game table with giant Jenga®.
