CORT Events sets the stage for a party at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Having set a PGA record for attendance in 2018 with more than 720,000 fans, the Waste Management Phoenix Open promotes itself with the hashtag #ThePeoplesOpen. It is also known as “the greenest show on grass”—showcasing environmental best practices and zero waste in addition to world class golf. And for the third consecutive year, CORT Events worked with PRO EM Party & Event Rentals of Phoenix, Ariz., bringing in and unloading more than 12,000 pieces of furniture over the course of a two-week-long build up. Hills, stairs, grass, and above all, Mother Nature presented challenges, but CORT’s seasoned employees executed the client’s vision to perfection on time.

Defined space

For the 2018 tournament, 15,000 rowdy guests enjoyed the venue just off the fairway known as the Greenskeeper. Artificial Boxwood Hedges from CORT defined the space and brought the green of the course into the seating area. With a custom shade structure, beautiful bars, custom graphics, eye-catching cacti, stunning floral and the music pumping, the space swiftly drew guests into the experience. With a drink in hand, patrons were able to explore the rest of the grounds, including a custom-designed arcum clearspan structure, several high-end catered buffets, a DJ platform, lakeside seating, daily liquor tastings and several satellite bars.

Versatile seating

Inside the Greenskeeper, branded pillows, tables, bars and hedges showcased the charities, sponsors and suite holders. The Island Double Sofa from CORT features seatbacks that can be positioned in three different ways. Swanson Swivel Chairs in iconic white vinyl with a chrome base allowed guests to view both the golf action and the party, and Marche Swivel Ottomans offered a pop of color. While golfer Gary Woodland was victorious on the course, CORT Events came away with a victory of its own, earning a “Zonie” from the Arizona chapter of the International Live Events Association (ILEA) for Best Event Collaboration for events with a budget of more than $50,000.
