From small equipment rental business to thriving event rental and production company, 24/7 surpasses customer expectation in the Los Angeles area.
In 2002 when Rob Cruikshank purchased an equipment and event rental business in Palmdale, Calif. (A-1 Rentals Inc.), he had no idea that it would one day become one of the leading event rental and service companies in the Los Angeles area—24/7 Events.
The company has gone through lightning-speed growth as it sold the equipment portion of the business and incrementally added tent and event rental products, event production, live entertainment and transportation for its clients. Its name changed two more times to reflect its expanding products and services, and relocated to Cruikshank’s hometown of Santa Clarita, Calif. “With the addition of the transportation, live entertainment and national event assistance divisions of the company, a name change proved to be essential,” says Jennifer Ortiz, 24/7 Events’ marketing and event director. “We rebranded as 24/7 Events to encompass all the aspects of the company.”
Dancing and driving
One of the services 24/7 Events provides that not every tent and event company provides is entertainment. The company offers live entertainment to its clients, from easy listening tunes to dance music that makes guests want to move their feet. The company can provide a one-person performer up to a full orchestra, including brass, woodwinds, percussion and strings. It also offers packages that include DJ and emcee services. “Every bride or host wants to give their guests an experience they won’t forget,” Ortiz says. “A way to achieve this is to provide exceptional live entertainment.”
Not only does 24/7 Events provide its clients with entertainment, it fulfills clients’ event needs by providing transportation. The company’s packages include drop off, pick up and everything in-between for clients who want to get around worry-free—in sedans, SUVs, limousines, party buses and more. “What makes us a bit unique are our product offerings, such as transportation and entertainment services,” Ortiz says.
Doing what they do best
Because 24/7 Events does the majority of its installations in the Los Angeles area, the company excels at rooftop installations. “Our primary market of Los Angeles certainly comes with space restrictions and time crunches,” Ortiz says. “Rooftop tents are being requested at a higher rate, especially in that area.”
One of the company’s recent projects was a rooftop installation for a luxury car manufacturer atop a brand new hotel in Los Angeles. For the hotel’s grand opening, they hosted a four-week event featuring a custom rooftop structure to accommodate the space restrictions. The crew installed multiple glass-walled structures with flooring—and even craned a car onto the roof.
Closer to home in Santa Clarita, where high winds are a threat, 24/7 Events provides tenting for the annual Michael Hoefflin gala each fall. “The foundation is dedicated to helping families that face childhood cancer,” Ortiz says. “We have been a part of the gala for many years and we are honored to do so.”
Whether the client is a wedding couple or a large corporation, Ortiz says clients are looking to “wow” their guests. And the company continues to grow its capabilities and markets. “With major corporations leaving the marketplace, it has allowed many businesses to take that opportunity to grow their business,” Ortiz says. “Fortunately, we have been able to grow as well and it has allowed us to become a player in the large tent and structure market.”
