Two-story tent provides additional square footage to cramped event space

The Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Champions League is among the top tournaments of European soccer leagues, and the final game is one of the most popular televised sporting events in Europe. In May 2010, the event took place for the first time in one of the world’s most prestigious soccer stadiums, Santiago Bernabéu, in Madrid, Spain.

For the 12th time, Orgatent, the subsidiary of Germany-based RÖDER Zelt- und Veranstaltungsservice GmbH, was the exclusive tent supplier for the championship. Beneath the stadium, event organizers needed 10,000 square meters of hospitality space for fans, celebrities and officials, but the footprint of the tenting area was only 8,000 square meters, including a garden area. The solution was four two-story tents that provided the required square footage.

In addition, in a nearby park, Röder provided the structure for a special one-week Museum of Champions, which housed a unique collection of memorabilia from Champions League players and clubs. A Röder Solution 10-by-40-meter tent was completely encased, creating a 4-meter-high black cube. Graphics and interiors for the museum were designed by the UK-based creative agency Designwerk.

Guests, sponsors and fans were pleased with the tent solutions and the fantastic views from the terraces on the second level of the hospitality structures. The project received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Commercial Tent Rental at the 2010 International Achievement Awards at IFAI Expo Americas in October.
