Adios 2020

Editorial | December 1, 2020 | By:

The December 2020–January 2021 issue of InTents covers a lot of industry ground. While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, this issue is packed with insight on how tent and event rental companies are responding. Our feature, “Tenting for the Pandemic,” (page 24) reveals an in-depth look at how tents have been utilized throughout 2020 to help combat the spread of COVID-19. When it comes to event space design, our Tips and Techniques column on page 36 offers design guidelines to follow to keep event attendees safe and comfortable. And, for the best advice on how to keep tents, warehouse and other structures warm and dry during the cold winter months, our safety column on page 38 answers all of your heating and air filtration questions.

Following on the heels of last year’s “5 under 40” feature, we once again honor five young professionals who are helping the industry move toward an innovative and bright future (page 18). And, as promised in the October–November issue, this issue includes Part 2 of InTents magazine’s Premier Product Showcase. Turn to page 29 for the latest products in the categories of manufacturing and repair, and tent rental equipment and services.

The 2021 InTents Buyer’s Guide is right around the corner (February–March), so be sure to submit your products before Dec. 7. Also, mark your calendar for the Tent Rental Division (TRD) Virtual Summit being held Jan. 19–21, 2021. TRD has planned education sessions, product demos and network sessions, so be sure to register by visiting www.tent.ifai.com/events.

As I finish writing this editorial, snow is falling outside and accumulating on the ground. Winter has arrived early in Minnesota and, of course, Jack Frost could not resist the urge to lend an icy hand in helping to wrap up an unpredictable and tumultuous year. Personally, I think it’s time to leave behind 2020, usher in a new year and dig out the winter boots.
