2021 in review

Editorial | December 1, 2021 | By:

As you read through this issue of InTents magazine, the end of another year approaches. While business in the tent and event rental industry turned out to be more profitable and promising in 2021 than 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought about another issue: labor shortages.

In 2020, a pressing challenge was figuring out how to keep business doors open. But in 2021, even as life began to approach some semblance of normalcy thanks to effective vaccines, finding new employees and keeping them on the payroll became (and still is) a number one challenge for many rental businesses. For an in-depth look at the latest strategies that tent and event rental companies are utilizing to find and retain workers, check out the feature “Workforce Challenges and Solutions.”

While the industry has certainly faced its share of pandemic-related challenges since the spring of 2020, many tent and event rental companies rose to new heights in 2021 by overcoming project challenges such as unforgiving terrain, COVID-19 limitations and tight timelines. The feature “Peaks of Perfection” explores four eye-popping tent installations that defied all odds and blew clients (and event attendees) away.

Following on the heels of the October–November issue, this issue includes Part 2 of InTents magazine’s Premier Product Showcase. For the latest products in the categories of tent rental equipment and services as well as manufacturing and repair, check out that article.

In closing, Tent Expo 2022 is right around the corner (Jan. 18–20, 2022, One Daytona, Daytona Beach, Fla.) so be sure to register by visiting www.ifai.com/event/tent-expo-2022. Also, I’m pleased to be the bearer of great news. The June–July 2022 issue of InTents will bring back a fan-favorite feature: the Reader’s Choice Awards. Visit www.intentsmag.com regularly for information on how to participate.
