An app for safe digging

Minnesota leads the way for damage prevention with its new Call Before You Dig App.

The national “Call Before You Dig” 811 campaign has been saving lives for several years by providing one standardized number in the U.S. to call to identify underground utility lines. Minnesota is among the first states and provinces to offer a damage prevention mobile app for quick access to its One Call Center resources.

The new mobile app offers quick access to many of Gopher State One Call’s (GSOC) resources and provides excavators, facility operators and homeowners with another avenue of communication with GSOC from their mobile smartphone or tablet device whether they are at the office, at home or working at a remote job site.

GSOC partnered with KorTerra Inc. to develop and launch this new mobile app for smartphones and tablets, which includes features such as an E-Ticket, Positive Response, Ticket Search, Facility Color Codes, GSOC Handbook, Homeowner Guide, GSOC News Feed and Minnesota Damage Prevention Events.

Each state and province has different rules and regulations governing digging. Visit www.call811.com for links to state- and province-specific information.
