A high-tech tent erected at Mayport Naval Station near Jacksonville, Fla., is headquarters for a military exercise to coordinate major responses.
One of only six units in the U.S. military, the tent has its own power source along with connections to the Internet, a satellite television and a radio capable of talking to the Pentagon or a ship at sea. The Deployable Joint Command and Control tent facility can be deployed anywhere in the world in hours, Army Captain Michael Senft told the The Florida Times-Union.
