Over the Top Rental Linens earns Point of Rental’s International Innovation Award for 2018.

More than 200 rental experts converged at Point of Rental’s International Conference in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, region in November with the goal of increasing their business’s efficiency.

Designed for Point of Rental users to network with rental professionals from throughout the world, the International Conference provides software education and one-on-one training, and allows users to participate in small-group sessions that help guide the future of the software.

“Every year, the conference seems to get better as we identify areas for improvement and new ideas to implement,” said Point of Rental CEO Wayne Harris. “We’re also fortunate to work with so many partners who sponsor the conference, providing additional expertise and allowing us to keep registration costs low for attendees.”

At the conference, Over the Top Rental Linens, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., earned Point of Rental’s International Innovation Award for 2018. The award honors the most innovative use of the software by a Point of Rental customer in the past year. Over the Top earned the award by combining custom reporting from Point of Rental, the Pareto Principle and a warehouse management app. They generated a velocity analysis and created a heatmap, allowing them to reorganize their warehouse to make for efficient product movement and reduce or remove nonproductive inventory.

“We’re honored to win the International Innovation Award, especially after having come so close last year,” said Over the Top’s general manager Rob Glassman. “We’re committed to innovating and implementing ideas that will allow us to be more efficient, and it’s great to have that effort recognized by Point of Rental.”

The conference featured keynote speaker Ruth Bloom; executive sessions led by Josh Nickell, formerly of Nickell Rentals, and Kristy Myrick, formerly of Hilton; and a full slate of software-based training designed to provide attendees with the knowledge they need to train employees in their stores.

“Point of Rental is moving forward at a fairly fast pace,” said Richard Wharmby of Expedition Rentals, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. “I find that with each of the sessions that I go to, I get a little bit more knowledge that helps my business run smoothly.”

“You’re going to find one or two things that you can bring back and implement in your business that are going to save you money, help you make sales faster and be more successful,” said Brandon Ahlgren of Elite Events & Rentals, Tampa, Fla.
