Vote in December for the industry’s best products and services in the InTents Reader’s Choice Awards.
The April-May 2010 issue of InTents was my first as editor, and it featured some impressive tenting—most notably the structures installed for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.
But there was a bigger story in that issue, in my opinion: the tent industry’s lightning-quick response to the earthquake in Haiti.
A lot has happened in the years since then. Products such as sailcloth tents and double-deckers have entered the mainstream. A trend in regionalized tent and event rental companies is emerging. But the tent industry’s ability and willingness to answer an emergency call—whether hurricane, flood, earthquake or wildfire—is as strong as ever, and on display in this season of natural disasters in North America (see page 11).
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Social media is one aspect of business that changes every time you think you have your head wrapped around it. But as Kate Doty notes in the final edition of our 2017 digital marketing series, while the methods evolve, basic marketing principles stay the same.
This issue also features the magazine’s annual Premier Product Showcase—the industry’s latest and greatest tents, fabric, decor, tools and equipment. And in a new twist, we want to hear your opinion. What companies, products and services do you depend on to run your business? Tell us by voting in the InTents Reader’s Choice Awards. Voting will be open online Dec. 11–31 at www.intentsmag.com. The winners will be featured in the April–May 2018 issue, kicking off InTents’ celebration of 25 years as your complete source of events in tents.
