For factory-fabricated lightweight geomembranes

The Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) and the International Association of Geosynthetic Installers (IAGI) have collaborated to produce Guidelines for Installation of: Factory Fabricated Lightweight <0.64mm (25 mil) Thickness.

The guidelines are arranged in four parts:

1. General: Guideline scope, references, submittals
2. Products: Geomembrane materials, quality control, geomembrane arrival at project site
3. Execution: Installation (subgrade preparation, unfolding and deploying prefabricated panels, field seaming, field seaming test requirements, geomembrane penetrations, cover materials, field acceptance, site cleanup & demobilization)
4. Measurement and Payment: Per project specifications

The 24-page, October 2013, document was reviewed by Ronald Frobel (RK Frobel & Associates) and was prepared by graduate student Rafael Villarreal and Prof. Timothy D. Stark (FGI technical director), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
