The Arena Group, which recently purchased U.S.-based Karl’s Event Services, has also acquired Asia Tent International Sdn. Bhd. for £3.5m (approximately U.S. $5.5 million).
The Malaysian acquisition enhances the company’s logistical capabilities, storage facilities, personnel and stock quota for the delivery of temporary event structures throughout Asia.
“This is a strategic first step into growing the Arena Group’s client base throughout Asia,” says Arena Group CEO Greg Lawless. “We now have the capacity to offer event organizers across all areas of the Middle and Far East easier access to independent specialist knowledge and greatly improved logistics. This is a vital part of our vision to be a truly global event services supplier.”
Arena Group’s Malaysian operations will be carried out by the newly created Asia Tents Arena Sdn. Bhd. and headed by Arena Group Middle East and Asia CEO Paul Berger. “Malaysia will serve as a springboard for the Arena Group to deliver new capabilities and more comprehensive event infrastructure services across Asia,” Berger says. “We look forward to enhancing our relationships with existing clients and expanding our services into new markets.”
Arena Group’s clients in Asia include the CIMB Classic and Sime Darby LPGA in Malaysia, the Formula 1 and HSBC LPGA in Singapore and Ballantine’s Golf Championships in South Korea. Asia Tent International had provided event structures for the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Athens Olympics and Doha Asian Games.
