Industry News | June 21, 2012 | By:

Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) is collecting comments regarding NFPA-701 and NFPA-70E.

A notice has been issued by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on behalf of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to anyone interested in submitting comments about existing fire codes and standards and the development of new codes and standards. This effort is part of an initial step in the revision process of proposed NFPA fire codes and standards. Remarks may be sent to Christine Malmgren, membership services specialist, at connectnet@ifai.com or by calling +1 651 225 6926.

In the notice, NIST provides a list of all NFPA fire codes and standards open for public comment. Among the codes and standards pertinent to the specialty fabric industry are NFPA-70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, and NFPA-701, Standard Methods of Fire Test for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films.

Deadline for comments varies by specific code. The complete summary is here.
