Showy installation: tents and tourism

Project Briefs | June 1, 2012 | By:

Tianguis Turístico is Mexico’s largest annual tourism trade show. The event, in its 36th year, brings together travel businesses, national and international buyers, hotels and airlines with the goal of boosting Mexico’s travel industry..

Mexico-based tent rental company Grupo Serna has a goal as well: to boost Mexico’s tent rental industry, with top-of-the-line products and safe installations.

For the March trade show, Grupo Serna installed five 60-by-70-foot SaddleSpan™ tents by Tentnology at a marina in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a fishing village near Puerto Vallarta.

“As there are many rental companies and we are the most expensive, we had to be able to prove why we charge more,” says Grupo Serna CEO Miguel Serna.

To win the job, Grupo Serna developed 3-D images to show the client what the installation would look like. Time was also a factor because the company received last-minute confirmation of winning the job. The ground surface at the marina was not conducive to a safe installation, so Grupo Serna hired a construction company to prepare the surface for safe anchoring. Eight installers working in two eight-hour shifts were required to set up the five structures.

With the best Mexico has to offer for tourism on display, Grupo Serna worked to fulfill its mission to provide the best tenting.

“We want to bring to our country the best looking models with safety first,” Serna says.
