Special Event Rentals, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, provided tenting for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s National Event, June 28–July 1, 2011, in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. The event north of the Arctic Circle presented some unique challenges for organizers. Equipment including tents, tables and chairs had to be shipped in by air as the ice roads were closed for the summer and the river is not always broken up at this time of year, so a ferry couldn’t be guaranteed. Two installers from Special Event Rentals also traveled to the site, flying through Yellowknife and Norman Wells before arriving in Inuvik. Working with a local crew, they set up a 60-by-140-foot pole tent and several smaller frame tents. Because the event dates were close to the summer solstice, the crew experienced 24 hours a day of sunlight.
