HTS Höcker Germany recently won the contract to design, manufacture and install what is believed to be the world’s largest and most structurally complex demountable building.

The unique structure, known as the Pit Pavilion, will be used exclusively for the Clipsal 500 V8 Super Car race held annually at Victoria Park, Adelaide, South Australia. The technologically advanced temporary building was designed, manufactured and installed by HTS Höcker Germany, exclusively for the South Australian Motor Sport Board.

The structure features a combination of vertical and slanted glass walling sections, energy efficient thermo-inflatable roofs combined with a curved roof design. The triple-story building is split into three distinctive levels with 80 rooms—each designated for specific operational and hospitality purposes.

The ground level consists of 40 pit lane garages for each of the competing V8 super car teams. Each garage facility is fitted with high speed roller shutter door units. The ground floor also houses various operational offices and the drivers’ medical center.

The first floor incorporates numerous different sized hospitality suites, each holding between 40 and 200 guests, including the exclusive split level State Suite overlooking the famous Hairpin corner.

The second floor is divided into hospitality suites, including the prestigious CLIPSAL sponsors’ suite, TV and radio broadcasting suites, race control, the official timekeeper’s offices and sound-proofed driver interview rooms as well as a fully functional media center overlooking the main pit straight.

The main Pit Pavilion is fully serviced by the integrated rear structure, which provides all services for the Pit Pavilion, including four fully operational hot and cold kitchens, climate control units, refrigerated storage as well as wash room facilities for everyone using the facility.

In addition to the Pit Pavilion structure, the company manufactured and installed six shade structure grandstands, which were located at various trackside points around the circuit.

HTS Höcker will operate the supplied structures each year until the contract ends 2015.
