An architect in Ireland is currently working on a prototype of a Mobile Cocoon retractable tent, which is transported on the back of a 40-foot trailer and can be installed in three hours with three people. The Cocoon offers integrated services with only one plug to eliminate extensive wiring. Its PVC cover is always attached to the frame, preventing the fabric from becoming dirty or damaged from contact with the ground. The tent’s designer is currently testing the durability of the membrane during folding and is developing removable sides for more flexible event spaces. It is estimated that the prototype will be ready in spring 2009, with full production underway later that year.
