In March of 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic forced numerous event cancellations and postponements across the country, US Event Structures, a tent rental company based in Frederick, Md., was hired to provide a two-story structure for a media and marketing firm.

The client desired a space within a larger festival setting—the Charleston Wine + Food Festival held annually in Charleston, S.C.—to introduce its new product and promote its brand to the public. The space was to be utilized to engage existing customers and obtain new ones.

Installation took place over a four-day period near the end of February. US Event Structures installed a 10-by-10-meter Losberger double-decker tent with 2.5-meter roof overhangs and white and clear vinyl tops and gables. A combination of glass and vinyl walls enclosed the majority of the structure, and cassette flooring was installed on both levels. A set of exterior steps for second floor access was installed along with a combination of carpeting and faux wood floor covering.

The first level of the structure was used by the client as an engagement marketing area for the general public to become familiar with the company’s latest launch. Potential clients were welcomed with swag items and an interactive photo booth.

The second level was reserved for existing members of the company’s product. These VIP guests were treated to food and beverages in an interior space as well as a covered exterior space where they could catch a bird’s eye view of the festival’s happenings and the entire Culinary Village below.

This was the last event installation US Event Structures completed before the coronavirus outbreak began to take shape. At the time, there was a preliminary report of a positive test in the Charleston area, but the event was already underway and the three-day festival was completed before the virus began to spread widely.
