Don’t miss the valuable opportunities at IFAI Tent Expo 2017.

One of the worst things about being editor of InTents is that, while I spend a lot of time writing about high-end, big-budget tented soirées, I rarely attend one. (To be honest, I’m not sure I’ve ever attended an event that could be accurately described as a soirée.)

More often than not, I find myself at events with bad tenting. At one community festival I like to attend, you can enjoy the world’s greatest turkey sandwiches under the world’s scariest tent installations. I’m not exaggerating when I say these turkey sandwiches are worth risking your life.

My luck changed this past fall, when one of the most preeminent sporting events in world, the Ryder Cup, came to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., a mere 30-minute drive from my home. Keith Krzeminski of Classic Event and Tent Rentals gave me the behind-the-scenes tour on the eve of the competition.

This event had it all—a double decker, a jet tent, tented villages built around course holes, a gigantic merchandise tent, all the way down to restroom tenting and bus stop tents.

Seeing in person such a wide variety of the latest in tenting products, all in one location, was an opportunity not to be missed. Which is why attending IFAI Tent Expo 2017 in January in Orlando, Fla., is a must for everyone in this industry. Tent Expo will also have it all—the latest in tenting technology, along with education, networking, equipment demonstrations, and my personal favorite, the tour of the tents.

The only thing disappointing about my Ryder Cup tour was that Mother Nature didn’t give me the best day for photographs. As a Minnesotan, I’m used to Mother Nature disappointing me. But more likely than not, the weather in Orlando in January will be as outstanding as the tents. See you at Tent Expo!
