One of the assumptions that can deter clients from choosing a culturally inspired theme for their wedding or party is the idea that they’ll be limited in their food choices. Event planner Sonia Sharma of Raj Tents, who specializes in interfaith multicultural weddings, says that’s not true.
“People sometimes think they don’t want a cultural theme because they believe you have to have just one kind of food, but you don’t,” she says.
“For [a Bollywood-themed engagement party] we had Indian and sushi and Persian at different stations. You don’t have to go 100 percent in one direction.”
