Fabric liners are popular in Northern California. But in the last few years, Moises Navarro, director of sales for Hartmann Studios in Richmond, has seen many clients opt for liners made of Velon, a fire-retardant plastic. Velon liners require more labor to install, but many clients prefer them because of the look they provide and the fact that they’re recyclable, Navarro says.

Velon comes in rolls in a wide range of colors, and custom colors can be ordered. Installers hand-pleat the Velon liners before installing them, which is where the increased labor comes in. The material is also used to wrap poles. “Savvy planners and designers are familiar with Velon in our area and they recommend it a lot,” Navarro says. While Velon liners for weddings are usually white, ivory or another neutral color, bolder colors are increasingly used by companies for branded events.

    Velon can be a lifesaver

Without velon, I'm not quite sure I'd ever have the ability to create the fabulous looks that customers demand. You'd be surprised to find out some of the things that we've wrapped in velon. I love it and cannot imagine working without it!
