Huge pink tent goes up in London

Thousands of fundraisers gathered under a very large and very pink tent in May during the MoonWalk charity event in London.

DeBoer introduced the pink tent two years ago to specifically serve the needs of its client, Walk the Walk. The charity has raised more than £40 million (nearly $80 million U.S.) for breast cancer issues. The tent was an instant hit with the client and the general public, and it has been helping to raise the profile of the event each year since its inception.

The pink tent, which DeBoer calls the “most distinctive temporary structure of its kind in the world,” measures 152 meters (499 feet) by 60 meters (197 feet)—large enough to hold 35 tennis courts. The tent is supported by 18 large poles—raised into place by equipment—and more than 250 smaller poles, which are lifted by hand.
