Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auction LLC of Scottsdale, Ariz., has filed suit against Tri–Rentals Inc., Phoenix, Ariz., in Arizona Superior Court citing “negligence; gross negligence; breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing.”

On Jan. 21, under severe weather including heavy rain and high winds, tents installed by Tri–Rentals collapsed during Russo and Steele’s 10th anniversary celebration, damaging many of the 600 collector cars under the tents. A tornado warning-rare for the state-had been issued for the Scottsdale area about the time the tents blew away, according to the New York Times.

Tri-Rentals is a subsidiary of Torrance, Calif.–based Classic Party Rentals. Classic did not respond to a May 5 New York Times article.
