Today’s tented events market

Energy costs and sustainability factors are setting new directions for the tent rental industry. Tent rental companies are forecasting a need for quicker tent installations, and they anticipate more demand for longer-term rentals, such as warehousing and retail space.

Tent manufacturers are working on developing lighter frames, not only for easier set-up, but to offset rising fuel costs needed to transport tents and tent components. They are also setting “green” goals toward achieving sustainability. Overall, tent manufacturers and event rental companies are experiencing steady growth. In a 2008 survey, 40% of event firms cited tent rentals as the top revenue generator; in 2009, 82% said they were pursuing new clients—up from 71% in 2008, yet, only 64% are adding inventory in 2009 compared to 88% in 2008.
